More on the Dark Academia novel I seem to have written before the term was invented. Nat, the small town protagonist, gets a scholarship to an elite eastern college. The small kind, like Williams College. There he takes a philosophy course from the charismatic professor Uzig – called Phil 322, Superman and Man: Nietzsche and Cobain. Each chapter begins with a little something, like an epigraph, from the course. These serve to comment on, reinforce or even subvert what is going on in the story. For example, Chapter 31: “Identify: ‘When you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you.’ 2 point bonus question, final exam.”
