How about Question Time? Winston Churchill was great at it, but no one asked him this one, from Marjorie Gorton yesterday:

“How do you feel about the series being called “cozyish”?”

Marjorie is referring to the Chet and Bernie mysteries, private eye novels that are narrated by Chet, the PI’s dog. If Chet was a talking dog, yes, these would be cozies. But he’s not, which allows the writer, in this case me, a lot more range even though you’d think it would be more restricting. Dark and uncoziesh things happen – and sometimes to Chet – meaning the emotional range is well beyond cozy. OK. That’s how I feel about it. How I think about it? As long as readers are enjoying the series, and as long as new readers are finding it, they can classify it however they like. Thanks, Marjorie!
