Snow’s the subject, so many thanks to reader Mike Farley for sending this comment and attachment yesterday. (Up on the Woof Top is $2.99 on kindle at the moment.)
‘My favorite Chet quote is snow related. I have it hanging at my “work” desk and it makes me smile every day.’

Yellow holes in the snow. A skill that Franklin has now mastered as well. As you may recall, one of Peter’s earlier books was called Hard Rain. I suspect a book titled Yellow Snow is probably not in the works though.
Another skill mastered in connection with our snow is my ability to throw a ball softly enough so it does not sink deep into the snow. We still play fetch every morning, so this is an important skill to maintain. Also, even though our favorite retrieve ball is Blue Ball, for snow-related fetch, Orange Ball is much better since more visible in the snow. Franklin doesn’t seem to mind the change.
Interesting, since dogs can see blue but they can’t see orange.
Blue, green and some dogs can see a bit of yellow. But they don’t have the physical cones to see red so not orange either.
I don’t expect Franklin cares. I have never noticed my dogs having a preference for color. Shape and texture, on the other hand, are very important. I can put out six tennis balls all of identical size and all brand new with not spit on them and for some reason Diana will prefer one of them. Ramses was the same way. That ratty torn up ball would be preferred over other old and new balls. There is a certain mouth-feel to them I suspect.
It is why dogs have a favorite brand of ball as well.
Greetings!
WTAFP: I am laughing at the first paragraph. :^)
What a perfect excerpt to have at a work desk. :^)
Very cold and windy in this neck of the woods.
Good afternoon to all!
How to dig holes with pee. This is something only a dog owner in areas with snow would know. I’ve never experienced it with my dogs.
WTAFP? Does Franklin get creative with his Winter holes?
For OFA and others, it is Typing Day.
It is National Snuggle a Chicken day for those that’s got them.
Lastly, National English Toffee day which I wish I had some. Not even going to attempt to make it as that would require a candy thermometer and more accuracy than I am capable of.
ML — Rest assured; Franklin is a true artiste in that regard.
Ah, but can he do smiley faces?
