When Laelia was born (on April Fools’ Day in 2011!), I had just lost my first black German Shepherd Dog. My heart was broken, and I was not ready for another pup. Laelia’s breeder, a good friend of mine, reached out to me and insisted that the black female in her litter was meant to be mine. I agreed to take her, although I was worried that I could not open my heart to her. Well, Laelia arrived at 8 weeks old as a bold, confident, smart, sassy, and fun-loving princess. I fell in love on day one! In the nearly 15 years that Laelia has shared our lives, she has raised many puppies that came into our home, made new friends with me as we traveled across the country together, and earned over 200 performance titles across agility, obedience, rally, tracking, and nose work / scent work venues. She loved all of the venues, but hunting for and retrieving shed deer antlers is her favorite. Every single day has been and continues to be a gift!”
