Nixon Panero, the auto mechanic with a recurring role in the Chet and Bernie mystery series, is a movie buff. In CAT ON A HIT TIN WOOF (coming April 14, preorders most welcome) we discover he’s written a screenplay:

“Your screenplay?” Bernie said. “The one where Marlene Dietrich and Greta Garbo go backpacking in Paraguay?”

Nixon shook his head. “Got no traction with the suits. Paraguay’s box office poison. How was I supposed to know?”
