Demelza (More)

Many thanks to Ginny Tata-Phillips for sending this info on Demelza, Chet’s June Friend of the Month. Demelza will be the FB profile pic and a signed copy of Up on the Woof Top, the most recent Chet and Bernie novel, is winging its way to Ginny. Next month this could be you. Just send in a pic. The random number generator takes it from there.

“So once upon a time, 5 years ago, I told my farm vet I wanted a mini cow – you know – the ones with the cute haitcuts that are the size of large dogs? Soon thereafter he showed up with a runt Hereford of about 200 lbs. She was a redhead with a hard start in life and was named Demelza (of Poldark fame) She was destined for the stockyard as she was so small and we agreed to bring her to our farm full of rescued animals. Well……flash forward and our ‘mini’ cow now weighs about 700 lbs. She is still runty as full grown she should weigh 2 or 3 times that.

She thinks Fernando goat is her kid and they are always together. She plays with wind chimes and deliberately hits them with her head to make music. And she loves her big blue ball and we love her!”

  1. Greetings!

Demelza: Sounds like you have found a perfect forever home!

WTAFP: Glad you and Debbie had a good time, and arrived home safely (although not on schedule). Wish I could have been a fly on the wall to see Franklin greet you when you picked him up. :^)

    Make today awesome!

  2. Yes, I immediately got the Poldark connection. I assumed it was because of the red hair.

Mini cow? Well, 700 lbs is sorta a mini cow when they run 1500-2000 pounds.

Blue ball? I’ll bet that is an equine ball like Diana pawPrints plays with.

So funny about the windchimes. There are many YouTube videos of cows coming to listen to music, tubas, pianos, accordions, bagpipes. Cows don’t seem to discriminate when it comes to music; they love it all.

At least she doesn’t let herself into the house to watch tv…..that we know of.

I’m sure Demelza would be delighted to know it is National Egg day and National Chocolate Macaroon day. Last I checked, cows did not lay eggs.
