Cycling

Here’s my trusty bike. After coffee I’m often on the road, not far, 10 miles or so. Reader Kelly Aderholt is in a different league:

“22.39 miles this afternoon with a stop at Park Road Books for TENDER IS THE BITE. Trying to catch up.”

(Park Road Books is in Charlotte, NC. A good bookstore, I hear, but I’ve never been.)

  1. Greetings!

Twenty two miles is very impressive, and ten miles is nothing to shake a stick at. BTW, both bikes are pretty cool. :^)

Reminder: Calendar requests close on October 27th.

    Good afternoon to all!

  2. Wose: We thought Luna would want to keep a scrapbook of all of our mugshots, but, alas she didn’t. She said that the scrapbook budget had to be scrapped for our legal retainer. We bet Maury has kept our mugshots framed above his desk over the years. Heh.

  3. Yes, I have my very own Rogues Gallery framed and on prominent display in my office. It does bear some resemblance to the bulletin boards often seen in post offices in days of yore.

  4. You can tell that is a well and often used bike, not just by the dirt tires and rear fenders, but also by the straps holding and attaching bags and stuff, saddle bags holding more, rear camera and all the additional doohickies on the handlebars. It has been customized to a frequent pedaler’s specifications. That bike didn’t come with fenders but I totally get the addition as I used to get a line of dirt down my spine when I road my fenderless bicycle to school back in the day. I do question the saddle however. I would think a frequent rider would like an easier throne, something with a gel pad and a bit of memory foam, perhaps.

I briefly considered getting a second bike with equipment to take the dogs out bike-joring, but Diana will be 7 this Saturday and while Freyja is 5 and of sled-dog genetics I worry about her foot right now. Doesn’t seem worth the expense and training with a likelihood they won’t want to or would only have a year or so left for the sport.Any dogs I have in the future will be 35lbs and under so I would need an entire pack to pull me on a bike.

Anyone remember the Iditarod Poodle team? They changed the rules just to exclude them. No way will I be on a bicycle pulled by a team of Pomeranians or Papillons. Nor would I wish to own a dozen beagles just to go bike-joring.

  5. WTAFP: Would you like us to see if we can get future mugshots in wallet-size? Lovable Miscreants…never leave home without them.

  6. Mom and Pop weren’t riding their beloved bikes Bluebell and Midnight much anymore. That worked out for us as it kept them here where they belong. But they recently broke down and admitted they are too old and weak and they bought electric bikes. We Howlers are embarrassed to admit we know them. Mom says she now can “fly like the wind”.

    Oh brother.

    1. Basket!….A Picnic Basket would be desired!…snort!…Full of good eats. Hot Wings and Pizza and BBQ Ribs…burp!….Plus some cold beer to go with it all…yes!

      1. We’re going to need a bigger basket. We can see if our bucket guy has any that won’t be missed for the beer. We’re also looking into, er, procuring a water wing to put about your middle and a bendy straw.

  7. Adventure!.. We here have suddenly embarked on a large adventure….snort!… After finishing that 1000 piece puzzle of Anchorage my friend decided it was time to re-read “The Lord Of The Rings” trilogy starting with the prelude “The Hobbit”….which she first read in the 9th grade….snorkel!….Over the years she has (without ME!) read this trilogy several times. But that has been many many years ago. So it seems all new to her….snort!…As you all know the movies are VERY GOOD…But not like the actual J.R.R.Tolkien Books….wuffle!….So off we go into the best adventure as known possible with Hobbits and other Kind and horrible folks….snorkel!
