Some characters threaten to take over a whole book and need to be kept in check. Fairbanks, seen in the lower right of the Mrs. Plansky Goes Rogue book cover, is one of these.

“Out on the pond there was no sign of Fairbanks. He could be down below. He could have packed up and headed for some better spot. But were there better spots than Little Pine Lake? Was it possible that what interested Fairbanks most of all were the Little Pine condos themselves? In that moment Mrs. Plansky understood Fairbanks through and through. He was down below all right, making reptilian plans and keeping reptilian time.”
