Re The Right Side ($1.99 digitally for April): when I said yesterday that the writing went by like a dream I didn’t mean there wasn’t work involved. But when my editor at the time said the book was like a Philip Glass piece I think he was responding to that liftoff quality in it that just sort of happened. (Note – and please don’t jinx self – I’m getting the same feeling now, writing the next Mrs. Plansky story. But that doesn’t mean I turn off my self-critical faculties. As Picasso – that’s his last self-portrait today – said, “I sell myself nothing.”)
