You could do a lot worse than being always entertaining and clever. That was an excellent review.
Has there been any word of a third book? Mrs Plansky Rides Again perhaps?
There are many things that go into success and bring things to a higher level.
For movies and tv shows, I believe the theme songs and soundtracks are significant. Iconic ones can make them immortal.
For books the same. I think it is all in the name, not just the title.
We know where OFA got Plansky, but Loretta isn’t a slouch either. Aside from the talented Loretta Swit of M*A*S*H I can’t think of many other Lorettas. But it is a perfect name for Mrs Plansky. And Loretta Plansky together make a splendid pair of names. Perfect for this series. Can you imagine any other name?
I think we need a “What’s in a name?” for Loretta.
Don’t know if OFA is a country music fan but I’m not so not that familiar with Loretta Lynn. I’ve certainly heard of Loretta Young but that’s pretty old Hollywood and unless OFA was a big fan as a very precocious youth, I can’t imagine she influenced the “what’s in a name” choice but I could very easily be wrong.
I just don’t consider Loretta to be a hugely common name. Now I really think we need a What’s in a Name post on Loretta, plus some details on how OFA and Stephen King became mutual fans.

ML, how about the elegant Loretta Young, swooping through the door with her skirts twirling? One of my early memories from black and white TV.
Or Loretta Lynn with her famous Nashville twang! “You ain’t woman enough to take my man!”

I enjoyed this review as it served as a review of the salient points so I could savor the story all over again. Loretta! What a dame!
