Yesterday in the comments ML asked (not for the first time) some interesting questions:

“Cat on a Hot Tin Woof is in preorder already? But what if the printing presses are all lost in a tornado, hurricane, earthquake or swallowed by an unexpected volcano? What if your computer crashes and you have to start writing all over again and can’t remember what you wrote? What if you get writer’s block so extreme you can’t write the ending? What if there is a paper shortage and no ink is available, not even for ready money?”

I can’t offer any reassurance on the paper and ink shortage worries, or the volcano threats. But as for the others, CAT ON A HOT TIN WOOF (coming April 14, preorderable) is already completely written, edited, and proofread. I have had computer crashes from time to time where I lost maybe a few pages or so, but while I never remember exactly what I wrote I come up with something similar – or even with an added layer or two. Writers block – knock on wood – has never been a problem. I have a method for breaking through it, if anyone’s interested.

  1. Greetings!

Very glad that writer’s block isn’t a problem for you, Spence. As a sometime writer myself, I would be very interested to know how you get through it.

Just heard that Brian Wilson, the creative force behind the Beach Boys has passed away. RIP.

    Good afternoon to all!

  2. I seem to recall OFA saying he had no problems with writer’s block.

I still worry about volcanoes and the world’s supply of ink.

  3. Mom has had surprising house worries this week and the Story of Sapphire is still in limbo. Maybe it can be finished in time for Friday week.

Please , OFA, how do you push through your block? Does it involve Chet’s philosophy of life? Do you just give a good shake and continue on?

  4. ML, chill, sister-friend! All that angst is not healthy! As Big Tiny suggests, just give yourself a good shake! OFA will never let us down, if humanly possible! 😁
