Phriday Photos …

… where you the reader take over. Just send anything about anything to peter.b.abrahams@gmail.com. (I’m on Instagram now, btw – _peterabrahams.) And now over to Mary L, who never fails to be thoughtful and entertaining, a great combo:

Do you dress your dog up for Halloween. Of course Chet doesn’t have more than his everyday collar and his dress up for special occasions collar. Being a no nonsense professional he doesn’t go in for dressing up or costumes. I don’t much any more although Diana and Freyja do have holiday themed collars. But I used to dress the dogs up for special occasions and holidays. The following are some Halloween photos of years and dogs past.

This is Caesar in his senior years, being a good sport and volunteering to pull Santa’s sleigh. Yes, sunglasses because here it is often in the low 70s and sunny on Christmas day. Halloween can even be approaching 80 so sometimes costumes aren’t so much fun.

Ramses and Candy as Santa and a Christmas tree.

Ramses was a good sport about dressing up, especially hats so he had quite a few costumes for Halloween. Here is Ramses as Superdog. I think this might have been his favorite costume.

Fire Hydrant:

One year I took advantage of having an all black dog and I got some non-toxic white hair spray paint and painted a white stripe down his back to make him into a very large skunk:

Mr Pumpkinhead:

Halloween witch:

This is Diana pawPrints in one of her costumes:

Diana doesn’t like hats but is used to a harness so she got some full body costumes. Here she is a Hot Dog. Her first costume was a saddle with cowboy rider costume but I don’t have a photo of it and I think she has outgrown it. She was only a year old that first Halloween. It was a joke as my Dad always called her “the horse.” It is difficult to get a Halloween costume for a 90 lb dog. We don’t do Halloween anymore because we don’t walk my parent’s neighborhood any more. Most of Ramses’ old dog friends have passed and we don’t see the neighbors like we used to. Since my parents stopped walking the dogs we don’t do it any more when we visit. I’ve never dressed Freyja up

I do have costumes for Diana, Freyja and Dolly should the occasion arise. I have a black Lion’s mane for Diana and for the two partners in crime I have angel wings and a halo and devil wings and horns. Whether Freyja or Dolly get to be angels or devils depends as they can be both good and …. challenging.

I always meant to make Diana a Wonder Woman costume but never got around to it and there doesn’t seem much point now. I might still do it after some of the house stuff gets finished. She is after all, Diana pawPrints, the Wonder Puppy.

  1. Greetings!

    Fun photos. :^)

It is that time of the year when I make this announcement—

After being on the DL for the past two months, I am pleased to announce that the 2026 Plunder On! calendar is complete. For those of you who would like a calendar, please send me an e-mail. The cost will be $25. I would like to have a final count by October 27, so that I can place the order and get the necessary supplies from the post office.

    Good afternoon to all!

  2. ML: Photos! What great photos! What is the difference between a costume and a disguise? Is it the intent to evade? Asking for a friend…

All: if youse haven’t seen the Howler’s comment on yesterday’s post there is a link to vote for Natty in a photo contest. It is a donation with amounts starting at $1.00. We are going to hold the Giant upside down and see what comes out of his pockets…if he would…just…quit…squirming so much….

Wose: We would like to purchase a calendar for our Protege and her Interloper. Yeep!

    1. On October 31 it is a costume. All other days it is a disguise. Intent is in the eye of the wearer. Maury will explain that it is very difficult to prove intent, especially when the miscreants have no opposable thumbs with which to leave written evidence.

P.S. Check the couch cushions and under the seats in the car.

  3. Natella: Once the Giant stopped squirming, we were able to relieve him of extra weight in his wallet. We can be very persuasive. Yeep!

  4. ML, what delightful photos of such obviously extremely loved doggos!

Thieves, here I am, sending you deep ear skritches that go on for days. I don’t care what anybody says. You are very good dogs!

Wose, please add me to the list for a 2026 calendar! I hope I can still find your physical address. If so, the check is in the mail!

Sorry I have been MIA so much lately. I don’t mean to be a Debbie Downer, but days in these parts have gotten hard. Huny Punkin’s Lewy Body Dementia has steadily progressed. He is on Hospice care, completely bed ridden, so weak and stiff he cannot move, and hallucinating most of the time. I won’t go into the graphic gory details, but we are both so tired. It’s just another season of life and we still appreciate each day as it comes. Thanks for letting me whine! Jilly is our angel, of course!

    1. We knew it! We have suspected for quite some time that we are good dogs. Called it!

We are sorry to hear about HP. Our Lady says taking care of a loved one is serious business especially when it is serious business and it can exhaust the cared for and the caregiver. She gets it; she helped care for Coach, the father not the dog, after he was diagnosed with brain cancer until his passing this summer. There are other Plunderers who, we would hazard a guess, also get it. We’re not sure if you’re aware of this or not, but back on the old blog we discovered the Plunderer Quilt. It was a place where a Plunderer could get tucked into or crawl under when their heart, body or brain was hurting. A member of our lot, Ole Doc, more often than not volunteered to provide snacks for the afflicted. What he didn’t have in stock, we would, er, procure. So therefore, we on This Side of the Bridge are tucking the Quilt around you and HP. We’ve kept the Quilt around Amalia’s shoulders since the Storyteller Crossed the Bridge so youse might see her there. We’re not sure what Slim Jims you find the most healing, so Ole Doc is bringing a pallet of every flavor. We’ll drop by some medicinal hot wings. Head bumps.
