Happy almost fall? Halloween costumes and candy already in stores?? Seriously!! Must be why last day of the month comes around so frequently. Take care all.
Yes, I did notice that the Halloween decorations and candy are already in the stores. In mid-August. Sometimes the avarice of our capitalist society disgusts me. I no longer do Halloween as I’ve had too much avarice, destruction and theft from that holiday.
So you Lefties. They say Lefties tend to be very creative people, possibly from having to come up with solutions for a right-handed world. I’m sure all Lefties gave a sigh of relief when the ball point pen was invented. No more smearing the paper or contortions for using a fountain pen, or dip/quill pen for that matter. Speaking of pens, it is World Calligraphy day. I learned in college, self-taught from a book. Still have some pens and ink around. My regular cursive is so bad I only print or do Calligraphy. Having horrible handwriting is exclusively a Lefty thing. Thankfully I am a touch typist so keyboarding is my thing, the only thing that make my writing legible. Sometimes even I can read it.
DaVinci was a Lefty and that’s why it took centuries to decipher the code in his diary, which was really just written backwards. Hold it up to a mirror to read (if you can read Italian).
My brother was born lefty but from the time he was a baby my parents forced him to use his right hand. Probably why his handwriting is atrocious. I can use my left hand for a few simple things when necessary but am a righty. I learned to use left handed scissors with my right hand because when I taught school and passed out the scissors for a project, that was often the only pair left.
Today is LOVE YOUR BOOKSHOP DAY. It’s wonderful that OFA will be at his favorite bookshop, The Poisoned Pen, on National Dog Day. That would almost be worth a days drive to Arizona, with the dogs and an overnight stay. But Arizona? In August? Will have to give that a pass even though I’ll bet there are some really great restaurants in the vicinity I would enjoy. But again, the dogs. Bring Fido! does list quite a few dog-friendly hotels (big dogs, up to 2, no pet fee) and restaurants but I would have to get booties for Freyja and teach her to walk in them to protect her feet. Diana has some already but I would need a new set to protect from hot pavement. Hot Hot HOT! I don’t think I could take it either.
It is National Creamsicle day. I could go for that but not going to the store today. I still have a load of laundry plus I’ve just softened the ground in Caesar’s Garden to clear out some big weeds and clear the area. I have Rainbow Sherbet in the freezer and that will have to do.
It is also Navajo Code Talkers day. Veterans we must never forget to thank for their service.

I am a righty, but Grizz’s younger sister and younger niece are lefties. At family dinners, they were always seated at the ends of the table. When I was learning how to write cursive in elementary school in Paterson, NJ, lefties were forced to write right-handed.
With Halloween candy and decorations already in stores, how soon will it be before Christmas stuff is in stores…

If I recall, last year they had the Christmas decorations up before Halloween.
Do we all remember a time when they didn’t go up until after Thanksgiving and NO stores were open on Thanksgiving day except the gas station? No Halloween Decorations until October. Valentine’s in February and Easter only for a few weeks before that moveable date.
The greed and avarice sometimes really makes me so angry. And rebellious. I will not buy anything or leave my house on Thanksgiving, Christmas or Easter day.
