Cordelia (More)

Many thanks to Betsy Brown for telling us a little more about Cordelia, Chet’s May Friend of the month. In June you could be doing this! Just send in a pic. The random number generator does the rest. Winner is the FB profile pic for the month and the human companion gets a signed copy of CAT ON A HOT TIN WOOF, the brand new Chet and Bernie #mystery – narrated by a #og, yes, but NOT a talking one.
“Cordelia (aka Cora) is a 5 year old Labrador. She joined us in Pebble Beach, California about 4 years ago from the Labrador Rescue of Fresno, California. She’s a true Labrador, in that she loves to eat, roll in anything stinky, and play with anything round. She’s is proud to say that, although she rolls in a lot of stinky things, she has never had a boring bath in a tub, as the ocean is her giant bathtub. Like Chet, she isn’t great about numbers past two, but she does know that she likes to visit the beach for running and swimming three times a day if possible. She lives life to its fullest in her hometown and adjacent Carmel By The Sea, one of the most dog friendly communities around. Thank you for the honor of being Chet’s friend of the month and all the fame and fortune associated with such!”

  1. Our Lady thinks Cora is a good girl despite the rolling around to stinky things ratio.

We’ve heard tale about Mama Luna rolling around is something smelling awfully like bear when she, the Giant, Tenzing and our Lady were moving to Alaska. Did the Giant carry Mama Luna into a river to wash her off, while Tenzing and our Lady watched wisely from the shore? Youse tell us…

      1. Our Lady says that experience and when Mama Luna would blow bubbles in the water dish were the only puppyesque things Mama Luna ever did. Our Lady says Luna was an old sou, whatever that means. All we know is she has a firm, but loving paw which explains our very reserved, mannerly approach to life.

        1. Missing!….Excuse me but I feel that maybe Mama Luna’s firm paw was away training to be a sled dawg for plenty and plenty of hours while the young impressionable Thieves were left to their own devices…..grunt! ….Which explains their miscreant behavior now and then. Mostly Now. …wheeze!

          1. Our mother was Annabelle, but it was Luna who raised us. Belle Starr was begat by Luna the week before our litter was born, all boys. Mama Luna decided Annabelle was unfit so under the cover of the middle of the day, jumped into our pupternity pen and absconded with the two of us, Younger and Frank one at a time, taking us back to her pupternity pen. So therefore…we were practically raised by a wolf.

As for the mostly now, we assure we allegedly were heavy on the miscreant a lot then, too…or so we’ve been told. Our Lady decided you couldn’t have a pack of outlaws without a Belle Starr. Our Lady, believing our little lived too well up to our name, often wondered if she should have named us after saints instead of, er, not saints.

  2. History!…..A history lesson about the Thieves and their beginnings…..gulp!….It is, what’s the word, Ironic that Mama Luna stole those Thieves to give them the best upbringing she thought possible…..sneeze! …She is the original Thief!….gasp!

  3. I love that pink tongue. I’ll bet it is warm and soft.

Caesar was half lab and his was warm and soft. He wasn’t a big kisser so when he did, it really meant something. Diana is the same way.

Freyja on the other hand is a huge kisser, hence the name Kissyface. Not sure what it is with her. I know it isn’t just “tasting”. I doubt it is gratitude for being rescued either. It could be low self esteem in that she wants the reassurance. Sorts like a pacifier. Kissing me calms her and that’s fine.
