$1.99

Just a reminder that The Right Side is on sale – digital version only – for $1.99 till the end of the month. Not a lot of money, especially these days, but no jokes today about inflation. My editor at the time said The Right Side reminded him of the music of Philip Glass. A compliment, as I realized later when I googled the gentleman. Here’s what an Amazon reader wrote recently:

“WHAT a wonderful book. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend. I’m so glad I found it. Everyone should read it. Has it all, a mystery, life for wounded warriors, how to deal with all kinds of people, and the healing, protective power of dogs.”

  1. I enjoyed it. I have the e-book. The end has both closure but is open ended enough to allow a sequel should the inspiration strike.

It is National Animal Crackers day. I’ve never had animal crackers but I do love Barnum’s animal cookies. Almost bought a bag the other day. Might still as they are on sale and I need to get some potatoes to bake for the steak I bought.

It is also International Pizza Cake day. I have no idea what a pizza cake is, but I’m game for anything pizza. It was apparently invented by Boston Pizza in 2014 and is purported to be 5,000 calories, I would assume if you eat the whole thing. They posted a recipe in April. The following September Pillsbury also posted a recipe so they are sometimes erroneously credited with inventing it.

The simplest way to make a pizza cake is to order several pizzas, UNSLICED, and then stack them up. You can find the original recipe on the sogoodblog for April 2014.

I think I read somewhere that if you drink a vat o beer while eating the pizza cake, it cancels out all of the calories. In fact, drink enough beer and you might lose weight.

    But I could be wrong.

    1. Beer!….I swam in a Vat O’ Beer on Monday and ate pizza last night. I’m feeling very thin indeed!… waddle! waddle! Burp!

    1. Then I shall ignore it as I truly loathe the Randy Newman song and think the original Monk theme was much more fitting for the show.

  2. Rio: We understand how you’re able to consume so much. You are a pug after all. But, what boggles the mind is how Wose was able to match you bite for bite and slurp for slurp. She’s just a speck of a thing.

  3. Ok, everybody, I had to google Philip Glass (glad OFA admitted to also doing it), pizza cake, and Monk’s Theme Song (the one by Randy Newman…apparently there are two). You folks are truly broadening my education. ‘I may be wrong, but I don’t think so.’
