Well, someone is jumping for joy. Looks like beautiful weather to me but then, you can’t sense temperature in a photo.
We didn’t get the heat wave as hot as predicted. Only 79 yesterday (and there is a world of difference between 79 and 81) and today it is only 71 now with a predicted 75 in an hour. not sure it’s going to make it. But nice enough for yardwork and tomorrow it will be 72, perfect day for the dog park.
Today is Sherlock Holmes day. Would we even have Chet and Bernie were it not for Holmes and Watson?
For those concerned, that plane crash in San Diego was not near me. I am east of I-15 and south I-8 in the neighborhood called City Heights. The plane crashed north of I-8 and east of I-15 in a neighborhood called Talmadge that is mostly military housing.
This was a small private plane and I heading to Montgomery Field just west of I-15, so heading to the airport from the east, into the wind. At 4am. There were six people on board the private plane. At least three confirmed dead including the owner/pilot. It apparently clipped some power lines and slammed into a house, setting it and some vehicles on fire. According to news reports, it was foggy and the pilot was 3km out on instruments approaching the airport.
This is why I do not fly in “toy planes”.
My house is not in any flight path to any of the local airports. Flight paths to Lindberg Field are all south of me, Montgomery Field ar all north of me.
Oops. Not Talmadge. The southern area of Tierrasanta which may or may not have a name. It’s Murphy Canyon. I seem to recall every once in a while they find some WWII ordinance buried in the dirt as the military used it use it for explosives practice or something.
Due to my support for the Wonder Puppies team, I get regular emails from the San Diego Humane Society, which had a very touching report relating to the plane crash in San Diego. They have rescued 22 pets that were exposed to jet fuel as a result of the crash and are providing emergency vet services for the animals before they are returned to their owners. Really well done!
They’ve also provided supplies (likely from their food pantry) to those displaced, are housing a few dogs until they can be reunited and sadly have taken in a dog to be rehomed because the owner can no longer take care of it.
They do wonderful work and I’m proud to fund raise for them every year.
And I thank you and all those that donate to them. This recent event shines a light on what they do for our community.
For those that may wish to do so, I think donations are still being accepted:

Not a nor’easter in this neck of the woods, but very soggy weather for sure.
