Mexico came up yesterday on account of Cinco de Mayo and we posted a little snippet from To Fetch A Thief. Mexico factors into the Chet and Bernie series and so do border towns. This is from Heart of Barkness:
Tesabe looked to be very small, with just one paved street and a few dirt roads running off it. We rode up a steep, curving hill, not seeing a single human, member of the nation within, or even a chicken, and this was the kind of place where you’d expect a chicken or two. I didn’t even hear any buzzing flies. They called this a border town?

Greetings!
This excerpt is making me laugh. :^)
Some soggy weather in this neck of the woods.
Good afternoon to all!
It’ been cold, damp and overcast for a few days but today has finally warmed a little and the sun is expected to finally come out. We’re getting the reverse this weekend with temps in the 80s on Friday and Saturday. I’m considering putting a shade over my lettuce. I’m going to make sure it gets a good watering both days. The garden is progressing. Pulled out a monster radish which seems to have disappeared. I put it down and I expect Freyja ate it. I can see strawberries forming. I think I finally got the melons, watermelons and pumpkin planted early enough I will get fruit this year. I’ve got all sorts of delayed gratification seedlings coming; artichoke, rhubarb and asparagus. They will all get their own bed since they will be long term residents.
The yard progresses. I’ve relaid all of the bricks torn up when the gas line was replaced. Now I’m just waiting for beds #3 and #4 to get to the point I can move the dirt that was dumped on my patio to a new spot. I’m reviving some tired patio furniture. Then, after some irrigation repairs I can go back to the slow replacement of the fence.
Today is errand day. A trip to Dave’s Flower Box to order my Mom some Mother’s Day flowers and then to the grocery store. Tomorrow is watercolor day at the senior center.
Today is National Teacher’s day, National Nurse’s day and the Westminster Dog show (please, no spoilers.)
It is also National Crepe Suzette day. I think I have a crepe pan sitting around somewhere.
Testable has an ominous vibe! Ten cuidado, Chet!
Testabe. Darn auto correct!
