Back to Question Time, this idea I stole from the British parliamentary system without knowing much about it. Ask me anything! Eventually some questioner will get a rare signed printed copy of the Chet and Bernie e-short story A CAT WAS INVOLVED. Based on what criteria who knows. And now over to Penny Cornett who writes:
‘Is Chet based on a particular dog you have known? How have you been able to so successfully get inside a dog’s brain and project the working of the canine mind? Are you an honorary member of the Nation Within? I know, I know— three questions… they just seem to appear in triads. “Answer me these questions three!”’
First, I picked this question on account of the Monty Python reference. So we have 2 very British things going on at once! Here’s the answer and it will probably not be satisfying. Chet is not based on a particular dog but I never could have written him without having had lots of dogs in my life. As for getting into the canine mind, I’m afraid I took the lazy way – I just trusted my imagination to get the job done. I’m afraid that’s been my MO for my entire career.

Greetings!
OFA’s imagination into getting into the canine mind has been perfect!
It is a balmy 38 degrees in this neck of the woods.
Make today awesome!
Wose. I can report that we are a balmy 45 degrees here. Almost swim trunk time. 😉
We finally got some rain and it turned cold-ish. Nights still aren’t cold enough for the fruit trees so harvest this year may be meager.
Went to watercolor class today and then went grocery shopping. Didn’t quite get everything but I might pick up what I couldn’t at a different store. I really hate it when I have to go to 2-3 stores to complete my shopping list.
I started a ZOOM sewing course this month. Going to learn to make lingerie. That FITS. If I succeed, a side benefit may be that it helps relieve some of my back issues. Meanwhile the yard is soggy so I may be working in the house and yard for the next week to ten days. I may tackle the garage first, yes, shifting stuff again as I need to get the washer out to work on it. It’s wobbling on spin. I have a lot of parts to replace to basically refresh my 36 year old direct drive Whirlpool washer. Recycling washer. No reason it can’t go another 36 years since Whirlpool still sells the parts.
