Question Time (More)

Back to Question Time, this idea I stole from the British parliamentary system without knowing much about it. Ask me anything! Eventually some questioner will get a rare signed printed copy of the Chet and Bernie e-short story A CAT WAS INVOLVED. Based on what criteria who knows. And now over to Penny Cornett who writes:

‘Is Chet based on a particular dog you have known? How have you been able to so successfully get inside a dog’s brain and project the working of the canine mind? Are you an honorary member of the Nation Within? I know, I know— three questions… they just seem to appear in triads. “Answer me these questions three!”’

First, I picked this question on account of the Monty Python reference. So we have 2 very British things going on at once! Here’s the answer and it will probably not be satisfying. Chet is not based on a particular dog but I never could have written him without having had lots of dogs in my life. As for getting into the canine mind, I’m afraid I took the lazy way – I just trusted my imagination to get the job done. I’m afraid that’s been my MO for my entire career.
