Re yesterday’s comment by ML on the fact that commenters can’t post pictures on the blog. I’ll look into this once more, but what if we do something like this: you could email me photos and then one day a week – Friday, for example – I could post them. What do you think?

Greetings!
PA/SQ: Your photo idea is genius! It would make a 2026 Plunder On! calendar a reality. :^)
Big Tiny: You are on the list!
Create a good day!
Great idea.
Good day to all.
Wow! That would be awesome, Pete! Wouldn’t it be too much trouble? We wouldn’t want to hamper any bit of writing you might be doing! 😉
That sounds like a great idea!!! I would love to see pictures of my blog buddies (4 legged) again!! I’ll even look at the 2 legged if they are in the pic too!!

What a brilliant and generous idea. It could be Friday Fotos, Or Phriday Photos. Or something like that. And perhaps little blurbs about the photo, subject, why it was chosen, etc. like we used to do. Only how do we do it? The “Contact” link here doesn’t allow photos or attachments. I think I’ve only sent things to Wose to forward.
What a great idea for Blue Bird of Happiness day.
Continuing this month of many things literary, today is National Punctuation day. Something the Chet and Bernie books excel at, as well as spelling and grammar. I’ve said before it’s one of the absolute pleasures in reading C&B or any of the other books is I am not distracted by poor editing or errors. Very rarely. I think only twice I have noticed a tiny word like “it” or “the” missing, not only in all of the C&B books but also in the Bowser and Birdie series, Queenie and Arthur series, The Right Side, etc. That is a lot of books to be absolutely pristine when it comes to properly written language.
While I’m sure no one on this blog is remiss, today is National Voter Registration day so exercise your duty as a citizen (if you are one) and make sure you are registered to vote, then VOTE. As I am known to say, if you don’t vote you can’t complain. I’ve been a complainer since I was 18 and every year thereafter when the opportunity presents itself. There is always room for improvement and without complaints how would we know what to improve?
It is National Cherries Jubilee day, something I have never partaken of despite liking cherries. Perhaps it is the edge of arson aspect that puts me off. Just seems an invitation to set the house on fire. Restaurants don’t even allow lighted birthday candles any more so Cherries Jubilee isn’t likely to be on the menu.
It is also Schwenkfelder Thanksgiving day, the longest continuously celebrated thanksgiving day in the U.S. and a date that has not changed since 1734, September 24. The meal is simple and also has not changed since the first day; water, bread, butter and apple butter. A simple meal but a lovely concept. Giving thanks on that day, not moving it around for convenience. I’ll bet Schwenkfelders who own businesses are closed on that day too. I wish we had our own Thanksgiving back, with everything closed and everyone having a day off from work to stay home with their families. A day of quiet contemplation and reflection. (Thank you, Sarah. Oh, and Abraham Lincoln too.) Just one day with no shopping. Throw in Christmas Day, Easter Sunday and New Year’s day for good measure. Can’t we have four days out of an entire year where you must plan ahead because there is no place to go out to buy stuff?
This year for the nation’s Thanksgiving I have decided to do my own meal complete with all of my favorite trimmings. Yes it does require two months planning in advance. I will have to make my own spiced apple rings as they are no longer available on the west coast. Still trying to source Pippin apples for the rings and a pie. I think I am going to have to plant a tree and grow my own for future years. I’ve already been to Iowa Meat farms to enquire when I should order a bird. November 1. I’ll get the smallest turkey they’ll have and it will be a fresh bird so I may have to clear out space in the refrigerator to brine it if it isn’t already brined. I’ve only personally cooked a bird solo once before and it came out great so looking forward to this. Also to open faced turkey sandwiches with gravy, turkey a lá King and once again trying to get a pot pie right. I might try my hand at a hot water crust this time although it is really the filling giving me problems. Mine isn’t runny enough but more of a really hearty stew. Would appreciate any suggestions from those that are successful chicken pot pie makers.
Wose, the check is in the mail! Thanks for all you do for all of us!
Pete, I’ll email you a picture, to get the ball rolling!
Thanks, Reba! :^)
