I forgot to post about Lincoln’s birthday on Monday. It would be nice if he’d come around again. Like soon. Among so many other virtues, he was a great writer. A book called Lincoln’s Sword is all about how he wrote some of his great speeches – highly recommended. Here’s the first photo of the Lincolns’ dog Fido, left behind on Springfield with friends because he didn’t do well with crowds, or possibly because Mary wanted it that way. This must also be one of the earliest photos of any member of the nation within.
