Memorial Day and we remember. Here’s LeAnne, crossing into Canada toward the end of THE RIGHT SIDE.
Now the officer was examining her passport photo. “Turn to me, please.”
She turned her face to him. He saw what there was to see, hardly reacted at all. Then he looked past her again and pointed. “What’s that?”
The Bronze Star was hanging from the open glove box.
“A medal.”
“Can I see?”
LeAnne handed him the Bronze Star.
“What’s it for?”
LeAnne didn’t answer.
The agent turned the medal over and read aloud the inscription on the back. “’Heroic or Meritorious Achievement.’” He handed her the passport and medal, tapped the roof, and said, “Enjoy your visit.”

Greetings!
If you have an opportunity, seek out the speech made by veteran David Yoho at the WWII memorial in Washington. It was very emotional and exceptional. One of the things Mr. Yoho said in his speech touched me deeply, “We gave up our yesterdays for your tomorrows.”
May God bless all those who gave up their lives for us.
Rose. Thank you for that. It is truly moving and memorable. He was 16 years old when he enlisted and is 98 years young now when he gave that speech.
WTAFP: Truly an amazing man,
I read The Right Side. Not really my sort of book but I read it because Peter wrote it. And I liked it. While there was closure there was also an opening should Peter wish to revisit it. That seems to be a theme with his books. About the only series that was absolutely closed is the Bowser and Birdie trilogy. All of the others I have read so far could always be continued should an idea manifest itself. And that’s fine with me.
Memorial!…Day!….snort!…It means a lot to us here because my friends Uncles served in the war. Her dad was a younger brother so he was spared combat but he served after the war in Germany. We have many photos of him in uniform and a top a Tank. …snort!….He was not called to server earlier because 3 brothers could not serve at the same time. Remember the film “Saving Private Ryan”….sniffle!…This became a law because of a family losing 3 brothers in WW2….wuffle!
History!….Channel is airing a WW2 special covering detailed events starting tonight narrated by Tom Hanks….snort!….We are watching right now. It should be very interesting…We just missed the first episode…Damn!…Hopefully they will reshow it at some point….gruffle!
