Sunday, when we normally do beginnings. But today is Father’s Day. So here’s Mrs. Plansky’s dad, from Mrs. Plansky Goes Rogue, coming July 15 and preorderable:
Arcadia Gardens was an assisted-living place about forty-five minutes away, where her dad had passed two or three somewhat disruptive and expensive years, the expense borne willingly by Mrs. Plansky and the disruptiveness just borne. He’d had many disagreements with fellow residents and staff, although none violent—with the exception of the beer bottle incident—but the climax, as it were, had come, as it were, on account of his romantic life, of which Mrs. Plansky had been unaware for a long time and was now way too aware. It turned out he’d had a girlfriend, as he put it, or two in Arcadia Gardens, but on different floors and supposedly ignorant of each other’s existence. Both were named Polly, a set-up for trouble, but in the end trouble had come from somewhere else, much closer to home.
(Answer to ML’s question in the comments: yes to the aquarium, but only at the beginning of his long career – 50 years).

My dentist had a service that took care of the aquarium. When he retired I asked about the hippo bubbler and he said it all belonged to the service and they took it all away, including the fish. It was a little 10 gallon one. My current dentist has a really large aquarium in the wall between the waiting room and inside but you can only see it from the waiting room. It’s at least 30 gallons, maybe larger.
Both named Polly, huh? In an effort to not trip up with a wrong name? One wonders how many “Pollys” are residents.
Greetings!
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there!
Looks like dad may be hijacking the story again. Well, at least that is fitting on Father’s Day. One question— does this mean that he is polly-amorous?
